The government of Ukraine insists on an independent investigation into the actions of the police Serhiy Oliynyk, who fired on the car of BMW during the chase through the streets of Kiev on the night of 7 February, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
«The government insists on an independent, politically impartial, fair and transparent investigation against a Ukrainian policeman who did his duty, was on duty and took steps in the performance of official duties», — said Yatsenyuk on Tuesday, February 23, in Kharkiv during the solemn ceremony of the presentation of the draft rapid response teams of police in Kharkiv region.
In turn the Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov thanked the Prime Minister for such a position. He also thanked the people of Kiev and Lvov who spoke in support of the new patrol police, and called it an unprecedented case, when people come out in support of the patrol police.
As reported, on 7 February and the police of Kiev has used a service weapon to stop the vehicle in which the driver gave chase on the streets of Kiev. This was mortally wounded the passenger of the car. Police involved in the harassment and detention, at the time of inspection removed from service.
On the night of 19 February the Pechersky district court of Kiev ruled to take into custody until April 18, the inspector of management of the patrol police of Kiev Oliynyk, who fired on the car of BMW during the chase.
The Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine Avakov said that the arrest of a policeman who had shot at BMW during the chase through the streets of Kiev on 6-7 February, judges and prosecutors want to discredit the new police.
The Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine – chief military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios reported that Oliynyk declared about suspicion in abuse of power.
Criminal proceedings on the fact of death of young men during the prosecution of employees of a patrol police car BMW launched according to part 3, article 365 (excess of authority or official powers), part 1 of article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.
Lawyers Oliynyk declare the necessity of the correct qualification of actions of the principal and overall objective consideration of the case as precedent.
