Yatsenyuk asks Parliament to proceed with the European integration

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk States that the Verkhovna Rada next plenary week (16-19 February) must vote additional laws necessary for visa-free regime with the European Union. About it today, 10 February, he said at a session of the joint Collegium of the Ministry of internal Affairs and the Ministry of justice «From new police to new of justice and safety of citizens», transfers UNIAN.

«To Ukraine has been visa-free regime, and we received a positive report that all criteria for visa-free regime with Ukraine completed, we need to make some changes to the legislation. And the Parliament during the next plenary week should vote additional laws that already developed by the government and sent to the President, for such laws by the Parliament were considered as top priorities», — said Yatsenyuk.

18 December 2015, the European Commission published the final report on the implementation by Ukraine of the action Plan on visa liberalization with the EU.

In the report the EC States that Ukraine has fulfilled all the conditions to recommend to include it in the list of countries with which the EU has a visa-free regime.

The report will be forwarded to the EU Council and the European Parliament, and on the basis of this document they should approve the decision on visa liberalization with Ukraine.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin believes that a visa-free regime with the EU will take effect in 5-7 months.

The Deputy foreign Minister on European integration Elena serkal said that the EU Council will consider the abolition of visas for Ukraine in March or June of 2016.

In addition to the EU, Ukrainians will also have the opportunity to travel without visas in 57 countries.

Note that member countries of the EU can temporarily block the visa-free regime with Ukraine in case of default of obligations in respect of the fight against corruption, migration policy, and security issues.

The dialogue between the EU and Ukraine on visa liberalisation started in 2008, and in 2010 the EU offered Ukraine an action Plan on visa liberalization.
