Wizz Air plans to add new aircraft to the base in «Zhulyany» and run routes from Kiev to Lisbon and Tallinn in 2018

Airline Wizz Air has announced to double its operations in Ukraine in 2018. About it reports a press-service of the company.

Wizz Air announced that it will add a third Airbus A320 at its base in the Kiev airport «Kiev» (Zhuliany») from April 2018. Also in April 2018, the company plans to launch two new routes from Kiev to Lisbon and Tallinn.

In addition, it is planned to increase the frequency of flights on the most popular directions – 11 additional flights a week under the summer schedule from Kiev to 2018.

The company noted that the implementation of these plans will bring additional investments in its Kiev base to nearly $300 million, and the number of seats will increase by over 1.5 million (+97% compared to 2016).

Wizz Air, the largest budget airline in Central and Eastern Europe. It offers flights to more than 420 routes.

On the market of Ukraine Wizz Air came in 2008 and in 2015 as part of the restructuring, decided to close its subsidiary in Ukraine and reduce the number of flights. The company noted that this is due to the unstable situation in Eastern Ukraine and the devaluation of the hryvnia.

In may 2016 Chairman and CEO Jozsef Varadi said that the situation in Ukraine stabiliziruemost, and Wizz Air is seriously considering expanding its presence on the Ukrainian market.

In 2016, the aviokompanija opened several new routes from Kiev. So, in December, Wizz Air made its first flight Kiev – Bratislava.
