«We don’t have cheap, we have to go». Groysman called for tougher legislation on road safety

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman called on the government to develop changes in the legislation on breach of security on the roads. He stated this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on November 10, the correspondent of «GORDON».

The government has considered the document, which proposes to toughen criminal liability for violation of traffic rules, committed in a condition of alcoholic intoxication. The members of the Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision to limit the maximum speed of vehicles in settlements to 50 km/h. however, the government decided to reduce the validity period for the first time issued a driver’s license from 30 years to two years.

The Cabinet intends to create by November 15, the Advisory Council on transport safety.

«I would like to make a package and maybe, one law… called «On improving road safety and preventing death,» and write there 5, 10, 15 articles… and put an end to this issue. What are we going 50 laws to consider?» said the Prime Minister.

He called to prepare for the early December presentation on the essential points of such a bill on road safety.

«We don’t have cheap, we have to go. And to go by the rules of the road», – said Groisman.

On 23 October the Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov declared that in connection with increase in Ukraine the number of accidents on the roads of the Cabinet of Ministers will propose the Verkhovna Rada to make some changes to the legislation. According to him, in 2017 in Ukraine compared with the previous year by 13% increase in the number of accidents.
