Poland will not disclose the names of Ukrainians banned from entering the country, but believes this list is too short. In an interview with Dziennik Gazeta Prawna said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski, responding to a question about ban of entry to Poland the head of the Ukrainian Institute of national remembrance Vladimir Viatrovych.
The foreign Minister of Poland noted that the ban violates European rules and the prohibition on entry may relate to people who promote «deep antigumanitarnoe, anti-European values».
He added that Poland does not disclose to whom and to what number of individuals what people declared persona non grata.
«This list is too short, which attests to our far-reaching understanding of the views of the Ukrainian side, determination in the quest for progress in mutual relations and unwillingness of further escalation,» – said Waszczykowski.
He added that the prospects for the planned visit of the President of Poland Andrzej Duda in Kharkov will depend on the «readiness of the Ukrainian side to consider our constructive proposals».
In October 2016, the Polish Sejm and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the joint Declaration of memory and solidarity, which should put an end to historical disputes. Despite this, the historical issue remains a source of tension between countries.
November 2, 2017 Waszczykowski said Poland intends to start the procedure, which will not allow to enter the country Ukrainians demonstrating anti-Polish views. «People who demonstratively wear the uniforms of the SS «Galicia» in Poland is not coming,» he said. Viatrovych criticized Waszczykowski, stating that Polish politics by demonizing the Ukrainians are trying to get political dividends.
The foreign Ministry of Ukraine believes that, «in spite of the difference in the estimates of complex historical past», there is no anti-Polish sentiment.
On 8 November it became known that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko initiated an emergency meeting of the Advisory Committee of the presidents of Ukraine and Poland with the aim of preventing further escalation of tensions between the two countries.
That viatrovych was in the list undesirable to entry into Poland of persons who reported 9 November, citing its own sources website Dziennik.pl. The list supposedly will not be published to the defendants learned about the ban at the border.
