Us law firm Hagens Berman filed a class action lawsuit against Audi subsidiary of the Volkswagen — on behalf of owners of cars of this brand. The lawsuit claims that the company manipulated test results for compliance of engines with environmental standards.
In the lawsuit we are talking about the Audi models A6, A8, Q5, and probably about the Q7 and potentially on other machines, equipped with 3.0-liter gasoline engine and automatic transmission.
The established in these Audi cars software different from the software that was discovered last year in the Volkswagen and Audi cars with diesel engines, reports DW.
«Despite the scandal with the «desligada», which lasts for a year, Audi has decided to continue to deceive consumers across the country with another manipulated emissions data device installed in a larger number of cars,» — said the managing partner of Hagens Berman Steve Berman.
According to him, it is «scandalous disregard of Federal environmental regulations» and deception of the expectations of consumers. Buying expensive cars, their owners are expected to purchase environmentally friendly, meet all the criteria of a luxury car, but instead purchased the «polluting machines and empty promises,» state the lawyers.
The plaintiffs demand to pay monetary compensation and to adjust inflated cost of the cars, said the lawyers.
We will remind, in October in San Francisco the trial of Volkswagen, which was at the center of «diesel scandal» after the detection on the machines that allows you to bypass the stringent environmental regulations of the United States. According to the approved agreement of the parties, the company will begin to pay compensation and to buy back their machine compromised «desligada», 475 thousand Americans in November. Volkswagen also agreed to pay $ 175 million for the services of lawyers representing the interests of these motorists.
Also we will add that earlier this year Hagens Berman filed a class action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz and 14 of its models with diesel engines. But while some high-profile continue this case not received.
