Viatrovych wants to adapt the story of the Crimea to the Ukrainian textbooks

Schools should see the history textbooks of Ukraine, which adapted history of Crimea and Crimean Tatars.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Ukrainian Institute of national memory Vladimir vyatrovich during a presentation at UKRINFORM nonfiction book «Our Crimea: the history of non-Russian Ukrainian Peninsula.»

«We try to show the history of the Crimea as an integral part of Ukrainian history. We (along with the Crimean historians) working on a history textbook. The new curriculum, which is designed, in particular, with the participation of the Ukrainian Institute of national memory, a rather tightly integrated Crimean subjects in Ukrainian history. We hope that in the near future this program transformirovalsya already in the textbooks and Ukrainian students will study the history of the Crimea together with the history of Ukraine», — said viatrovych.

According to the historian Gulnara Bekirova, now she, along with colleagues, Crimean historians, is engaged in this work «very closely».

«It is primarily merit of the Ukrainian Institute of national memory — as in the textbooks of history of Ukraine will soon appear, it is already in the program, all key subjects of the history of Crimea, Crimean Tatar people. They will be integrated in modern program history of Ukraine. And we historians urgently solved today this problem for teachers. In a sense, the book «Our Crimea: the history of non-Russian Ukrainian Peninsula» — is first aid for teachers, because the lyrics here verified from a scientific point of view, tested in the popular press. This is scientific journalism, which is understood by all, including teachers and the General reader,» said Bekir.

Speaking about the publication of «Our Crimea: the non-Russian history of the Ukrainian Peninsula,» viatrovych said that this is only one of the projects that will be done at the Ukrainian Institute of national memory, and they will continue.

«This book is published with a circulation of a thousand copies, and we will be free to distribute it at schools and libraries. Everyone can download this book in electronic format. Urge to get acquainted with this book, to distribute it, because the dissemination of information on non-Russian history of the Ukrainian Peninsula is now extremely important. In particular, from the point of view of returning Crimea to Ukrainian sovereign territory,» — said vyatrovich.

Recall, the Ministry of education and science had previously proposed to change the program on the history of Ukraine for grades 10-11, rewritten predecessors.
