Venediktov called the Bulk-admission to the presidential elections «toxic wrong decision»

The decision of the Central election Commission of the Russian Federation to refuse registration on elections of the President of opposition leader Alexei Navalny «a legally questionable and politically short-sighted». This is the blog on the website of radio station «Echo of Moscow», said its chief editor Alexei Venediktov.

«Elections of the mayor of Moscow in 2013 showed that Alexei enjoys considerable voter support. The decision of the European court of human rights, and then the Supreme court has shown that criminal cases and convictions against him were initiated and conducted in the courts with a large number of deviations from the criminal code and the criminal procedure code, contain the political motives and should therefore be abolished,» he wrote.

According to Venediktova, impartial observers, who are not voters of Navalny, «he shall see the naked eye to political implications of his non-admission to the presidential election campaign».

«This is the wrong toxic solution. And, quoting the great Talleyrand, note – «This is worse than the crime. This is a mistake,» – said the chief editor of «Echo of Moscow».

Presidential elections in Russia will be held on 18 March 2018.

Navalny announced the decision to participate in the presidential elections in December 2016. He said he goes to the polls «program on how to make Russia a fair and modern.» The head of the Central election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova said that Navalny may take part in the presidential elections in 2018, but only if it will remove a record or to change the law.

24 Dec documents of the initiative group on the nomination of the Bulk was taken by the Central election Commission of the Russian Federation.

25 Dec, the CEC adopted a decision on the refusal to register Navalny.

Navalny posted on the Internet a video message in which he announced a «strike of voters» in connection with the refusal of the CEC to allow it to elections in connection with outstanding conviction.

8 February 2017 re-examination of the case on embezzlement in especially large amount in the company «Kirovles» Leninsky district court in Kirov found Navalny guilty and sentenced him to five years imprisonment, appointed him a fine of 500 thousand rubles.

The politician said that the European court of human rights accepted the verdict in the case of «Kirovles» rigged and stressed that the non-admission to elections is the decision against the 16 thousand people who nominated him.
