Until September 2, Russia should close its Consulate General in San Francisco, as well as consular offices in new York and Washington, the statement of the official representative of U.S. State Department’s Heather Nauert which are available on the website of the foreign Ministry.

«The United States has fully complied with the decision of the government of the Russian Federation to reduce the number of our diplomatic mission in Russia. This decision was unfounded and caused harm relations between the two countries», – said in the release.
In the spirit of parity States oblige Moscow to cease the activities of the three diplomatic missions, said Neuert.
«After these actions, both countries will remain at the three consulates. Despite the fact that the total number of diplomatic and consular offices will remain imbalance, we decided to allow the Russian government to keep a number of their offices in order to stop the spiral of worsening relations», – stated in the message of the state Department.
In December 2016 in the framework of the sanctions package against Russia, U.S. authorities have seized two country residence of Russian diplomats in new York and Maryland. In addition, the U.S. State Department declared persona non grata 35 Russian diplomats.
28 July 2017 in response to the sanctions policy of the USA the Russian side has decided to suspend from 1 August using the USA Embassy in Russia of all storage areas on a Traffic street in Moscow and cottages in the Serebryany Bor. Moreover, the United States was proposed to reduce the number of employees of diplomatic missions on the territory of the Russian Federation to 755.
In this regard, on August 23 the procedure of granting U.S. nonimmigrant visas in Russia was suspended.
As said U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson in Washington was going until 1 September to give Russia a response to the reduction of the us diplomatic mission in Moscow.
