UNICEF urged to stop the fighting in Avdeevka

In the Children’s Fund (UNICEF) urged parties to the conflict in Eastern Ukraine to ensure safe access to the plant for carrying out urgent repairs on a damaged electricity and water supply. It is reported by the UN news Center.

The Foundation is concerned that over 17 thousand inhabitants of the Town, including 2.5 thousand children, left without water, heating and light in winter conditions.

UNICEF noted that thousands of children in the town are in very bad conditions. They are threatened by the fire. The situation is complicated by the lack of water and light. The houses are very cold and the health status of children is deteriorating is easy on the eyes.

Because of the fighting in the vicinity of the Town was closed six schools and four kindergartens.

«UNICEF and our partners urge the parties to ensure safe access to undertake emergency repairs to damaged water and electricity supply and prevent further suffering of people,» — said in a UNICEF statement.
