The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine initiated proceedings on signs of the Commission by the operators of the market of retail sales of light oil anti-competitive concerted actions. This is stated in the message of the AMC.
«The rapid decline in oil prices in 2015 and in early 2016 in the global markets led to the reduction in the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel in European markets. However, according to market experts, the tendency to reduce the cost of oil will continue in the future», — reports a press-service.
The press service noted that the pricing policy of domestic market operators are not fully correlated with changes in the factors affecting pricing.
So, if average retail prices for diesel fuel during the specified period reduced, then average retail prices for gasoline a-95 for the last 4 months were virtually unchanged. As of 19 January 2016 prices for gasoline A-95 ranged from 18,00 UAH per liter to 20,99 hryvnia for liter.
«The last months of 2015 and beginning of 2016 the number of economic entities, market leaders, installed and supported the same size the price of high-octane gasolines, in particular, gasoline a-95 at 20,99 hryvnia per liter,» — said in the Committee.
As noted, specified the price level was the highest and, in particular, exceeded the indicative retail price at filling stations in the second decade of January 2016, which according to calculations of the Ministry of energy is 19,67 hryvnia for liter.
«Such actions of these market operators could lead to restriction of competition on the markets of retail sales of light oil products», — informs the AMCU.
It is also noted that the Antimonopoly Committee began its consideration of the case on the grounds of infringement of the legislation on protection of economic competition, anticompetitive concerted actions in the markets of retail sales of light oil products.
«Now the Committee is the collection and analysis of evidence in the case, in particular, the defendants directed the requirement to provide information. By results of consideration of the case will be decided under the law», — stated in the AMC.
In January 2016, Minister of energy and coal industry Volodymyr demchyshyn stated that he agreed with oil traders about the drop in gasoline prices.
And Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed to check the fuel quality at the pump.
