Ukrainian chess player won the silver medal at the world championship among seniors

International master Alexander Reprintsev became the silver prize-winner of the world chess championship, which ended today in the resort town of Marianske Lazne (Czech Republic).

A graduate of the Dnipropetrovsk chess school took second place in the open (men’s) tournament for players over 50 years old, according to UKRINFORM.

In the final round Reprintsev with the white pieces lost to George Bagaturov from Georgia, who eventually won the tournament with a score of 9.5 points from possible 11. In the asset Reprintseva 8.5 points, which was ahead of additional indicators the bronze medalist of the Georgian Zurab Sturua.

In the open (men’s) tournament 65+ excelled Anatoly Karpov from France (8.5 points out of 11). Tournament women’s 50+ was won by the Russian Tatiana Bogumil (8 of 11), ahead of additional indicators Elvira Berend Luxembourg. In the age group 65+ was not equal to the fifth in the history of chess world champion Georgian Nona Gaprindashvili (8 points from 9).

Earlier in November, it was reported that the club Champions of Europe, chess became four Ukrainians.
