Ukraine will not accept refugees in exchange for «bezviz»

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine did not support the initiative on the deployment in Ukraine of migrants quota of the European Union in exchange for providing citizens a visa-free regime with the EU, said Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman.

«This is not the position of the Ukrainian government. Our position is very clear: we do not support such initiatives,» he said during the Hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, December 9, answering an MP’s question, whether the dismissed Deputy justice Minister Sergei Petukhov, who allegedly called for the initiative to host illegal migrants from the EU.

As reported, in late November 2016 Deputy Minister of justice on issues of European integration roosters made a proposal that Ukraine took on the quota of one of the EU countries in the resettlement of migrants for the sake of bizwise.

«It’s no secret that the decision on Ukraine (on granting visa-free regime – ed.) is largely influenced by the Syrian migration crisis. It fearing a negative reaction of voters to migrants, European leaders are in no hurry to give bezviz Ukraine. But if that’s our biggest problem, then it may be the solution! I would suggest the EU to take voluntary quota for the resettlement of migrants. I think our country could fully take the quota, for example, of the Netherlands,» wrote cocks on his page in Facebook.

Later Petukhov noted on the Facebook page that it was his «personal reflections and proposals for discussion». «This is not the plan of the Ministry or some official position,» he said
