Ukraine ranked second in the world in wheat yields

Ukraine became the second in the world in wheat yield of the 2015/2016 marketing year (MG). This is evidenced by the U.S. Department of agriculture (USDA), reports Infoindustria.

In 2015/16 wheat crop in Ukraine reached 3.8 t/ha. However, it is less than perameri harvested in the EU. There, farmers harvest 6 tons per hectare. In third place is Canada with a yield of 2.9 t/ha.

The average yield of wheat in the world is 3.3 t/ha. According to the USDA forecast, in 2016/17 MG this will rise to 3.4 t/ha, and in Ukraine — up to 4.2 t/ha.

Earlier it was reported that India topped the rating of Ukrainian importers of wheat, buying about 1.5 million tonnes of this grain culture. The three leading importers of Ukrainian wheat are also included Thailand (1.4 million tonnes) and Indonesia (1.3 million tons).

Recall that the grain harvest in Ukraine in 2016 was a record at the time of independence 66 million tons (in standard weight) and exceeded the 2015 of 5.9 million tons.
