On Tuesday, the Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation agreed on the mutual return of their trucks.
So-called mode of «going home» was introduced from 16 to 25 February inclusive. «We call on activists in the next 10 days not impede the movement of Russian freight cars home. This is a guarantee that our Ukrainian drivers will be able to get to Ukraine», — quoted in the message the Deputy Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine Oksana Reiter.
According to the Agency, over the past week as a result of the current situation, more than 350 trucks of Ukrainian origin were stopped on the territory of the Russian Federation, and more than 300 cars are in Asia, waiting for the return to Ukraine, transit through Russia. Similarly, on the territory of Ukraine activists was stopped about 60 trucks and more than 500 vehicles were accumulated on the Western border of Ukraine with the EU, waiting to return to Russia.
«The Russian side confirmed its readiness to terminate the response in the case of addressing the situation with blocking the movement of Russian vehicles in Ukraine. The parties continue consultations in order to ensure the reciprocal return of vehicles in territory of the States of their registration», — stated in the message of Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation.
Earlier it was reported that by 11 February in ten regions of Ukraine activists began a campaign to block the passage of trucks with Russian numbers. In response, Russia suspended the movement of freight vehicles registered in Ukraine, and later their transit. The Ukrainian side, in turn, also officially suspended the transit of Russian trucks.
The participants of the blockade called the decision of the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk«half-hearted».
However, already on 17 February, the Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine Andriy Pivovarsky has favoured the full restoration of transit of Russian trucks.
«As you know, last week the Ukrainian activists began blocking the so-called Russian transit through the territory of Ukraine. It is important to understand that transit has no boundaries and has no limitations. Ukraine as a transit country earns money on the fact that transit goods from Europe to Asia and from Asia to Europe pass through Ukraine. And very often people are confused thinking that the cargo that rides on a «Russian» rooms, of Russian origin. But it is not, — explained his point of view brewer. — Most of the products that are stuck in Ukraine, not Russian in origin. It was a transit. And limitations, there can be no. Moreover, Ukraine signed a set of agreements about what transit can’t stop, transit must go a large stream».
