Tymoshenko met with Nuland. Discussed the Minsk agreement and reforms

The party leader «Batkivshchyna» Yulia Tymoshenko during a working visit to the U.S. discussed with the U.S. under Secretary of state Victoria Nuland situation in Ukraine and urged the US and Britain to join the negotiation process.

«The sides discussed the situation in Ukraine, in particular issues related to Russia’s aggression in Eastern Ukraine and the annexation of the Crimea», — informs the press service of the party «Batkivshchyna» about the results of the meeting.

Tymoshenko stressed that the Minsk agreements were necessary but not sufficient for the restoration of peace in the Ukrainian state and urged the US and Britain as guarantors of the Budapest Memorandum to join the negotiation process.

In addition, the meeting discussed the implementation of reforms in Ukraine, including judicial reform, law enforcement reform, and the fight against corruption.

Recall, Nuland visited Ukraine in July of 2015 and lobbied for the approval of the Verkhovna Rada of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine in terms of decentralization.

January 15, the U.S. assistant Secretary of state arrived from Lithuania to Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation, where she met with Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov. The consultations were held behind closed doors. After negotiations, the parties have refrained from comments.
