The Council of national security and defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine has instructed to tighten control over border crossings and movement of Russian citizens on the territory of Ukraine, said the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, the press service of the security Council.
According to Turchynov, the NSDC instructed the government and relevant ministries to develop a complex of measures on strengthening of control of entry, exit and stay of citizens of other States and persons without citizenship on the territory of Ukraine.
«To protect the country from penetration on its territory of terrorists, of saboteurs, of spies, criminals and illegal migrants were instructed to enter the check-in Ukraine biometric passports and mandatory removal of biometric data, especially fingerprints, for citizens of Russia and other countries and persons without citizenship – except for countries with which Ukraine has a relevant agreement», – said Turchinov.
He explained that introduced a strict regime of border control, first and foremost, this decision will apply to Russian citizens.
«This issue is associated with the increased security after the recent terrorist attacks, to protect the country from the hybrid aggression of the Russian Federation», – said Secretary of the NSDC.
According to him, the Ministry of foreign Affairs commissioned to create an electronic system of pre-registration of Russian citizens to cross the border with Ukraine.
Turchynov added that also introduced requirements for registration of Russian citizens in places of their temporary stay on the territory of Ukraine.
The NSDC Secretary stressed that the implementation of this decision, in particular for the technical support of biometric data at all border crossing points will be established technical infrastructure.
«The border service has allocated significant budgetary resources for the purchase of necessary equipment and strengthening the technical protection of the border,» – said Turchinov.
On June 24, Turchynov said that the state border service is preparing to pass Russian citizens in Ukraine biometric passports, as well as to the selection they have biometric data.
July 10 at the NSDC meeting, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine will be introduced the collection of biometrics of everyone entering the country to foreigners.
