Secretary of Council of national security and defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov said that the Ukrainian parliamentarians have become accomplices of the crime against his own country, the press service of the NSDC.
According to Turchynov, many businesses and organizations still have not fully recovered from large-scale cyber-attacks June 27.
«Countering cyber war, which is a component of a hybrid Russian aggression against our country, requires the mobilization of relevant government agencies and significant financial and intellectual resources,» – said Turchinov added that cyber threats cannot be countered without legislative regulation of many issues in this area.
The NSDC Secretary added that on 11 July the draft law «On counteraction to threats to national security in the information sphere» was not even included in the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada.
«The deputies who work a few days a month, must be very tired and next week go to another multi-month vacation. Yesterday they did not even bother to include in the agenda of the law, which is of key importance for cyber security of the state», – said Turchinov.
According to him, the MPs «who did not vote for the protection of their own country, hiding their destructive actions and the business interests of empty populism and demagoguery are accomplices of cyberagression against Ukraine.»
The NSDC Secretary added that from next week until mid-September, MPs will go on vacation.
«The deputies don’t have any time to consider the second reading the law No. 2126, «On the principles of cybersecurity», which for several months is lying,» said Turchynov.
According to the NSDC Secretary, the most «evolved out of opposition bloc and populist factions of the Parliament,» refused to support the bill, which was to «put a filter to receive biometric passports of Ukrainian collaborators and agents of the Russian special services, located in the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas».
