Tuck said on the «soft separatism» in Transcarpathia

Local authorities do not pay attention to manifestations of «soft separatism» in the Transcarpathian region. In the chat on «Glavred» December 9, said Deputy Minister of the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons Georgy Tuka.

According to him, the authorities are engaged in «ostrich policy, burying your head in the sand» and say that the region has no threats.

«Unfortunately, there were certain regions in our country, who from the first days of independence was actually given under the control of so-called local elites in exchange for loyalty to the Central government. Ukraine never had in the Crimea or in the Donbass or in Transcarpathia. And the fact that now the attention focused on the events in Transcarpathia regarding a huge number of Hungarian passports, flags of another country in public institutions and the use of foreign language during formal events… From my point of view, is one of the ways the so-called soft separatism. Officials who pretend this is not happening, just not in place,» said Tuck.

He believes that the threat of separatist sentiment in Volhynia or in the Lviv region no.

«First, not at the same stage now Ukrainian-Polish relations, and secondly, not so powerful in Poland these extreme right-wing nationalist group, inside our Western regions there is such a concentration of supporters of the «Polish world» or supporters of the Department. And among the vast majority of the Galicians, there is no feeling some of his characteristics,» – said the Deputy Minister.

Relations between Hungary and Ukraine deteriorated following the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada on 5 September, the law «On education», which expands the use of the Ukrainian language in education. On 10 September the Minister of foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Siyyarto called the Ukrainian law «shameful and disgraceful» and ordered that Hungarian diplomats did not support any Ukrainian initiatives in international organizations.

The evening of 13 October in Budapest at the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary took action «self-Determination for Transcarpathia». Its participants protested against the Ukrainian law «On education», and some of them were in favor of «self-determination of Transcarpathia».

November 12, in Beregovo, representatives of the party «Freedom» came to the city Council building and removed the flag of Hungary. They tried to set fire to it, but the police prevented from doing so. Law enforcement officers took away the activists of the flag and hung it back up. The head of the Transcarpathian regional state administration Gennady Moskal said that the flag hung on the building legally.

According to the census of 2001, in Ukraine lives more than 150 thousand Hungarians, most of them in the Transcarpathian region.
