Japan and the United States agreed to increase pressure on the DPRK after the recent launch by Pyongyang ballistic missile that flew over Japanese territory and fell into the Pacific ocean, reports Reuters.
An agreement is made after telephone conversations with U.S. President Donald trump told reporters the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.
According to him, trump assured the Japanese side that the United States was «a hundred percent with Japan,» and showed «a strong commitment to the defence of Tokyo.»
August 28 from the vicinity of Sunan international airport in Pyongyang, the DPRK military launched a ballistic missile that flew over Japan and fell into the Pacific ocean. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that the DPRK’s actions – «an unprecedented threat to the nation.»
The UN Security Council will hold on the 29th of August an emergency meeting about the new missile tests by North Korea.
In July, North Korea conducted multiple launches of ballistic missiles. In the United States noted that some of them are able to fly to Alaska.
On 5 August members of the UN Security Council approved a resolution calling for additional sanctions against the DPRK. According to estimates of the American party, which proposed the resolution, full compliance with the limitations will allow a $1 billion cut in the annual monetary income of Pyongyang, which currently stands at about $3 billion.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN has repeatedly stated that the country will increase its nuclear strike capability to attack American targets.
August 8 edition of the Washington Post reported that U.S. intelligence has information about the readiness of Pyongyang to equip its Intercontinental ballistic missiles are nuclear warheads.
The US President Donald trump said that North Korea should not threaten the United States. «They will face our fire and our rage and unprecedented might,» he warned.
In response, the DPRK threatened US missile strike on the island of GUAM.
