Transparency International urged the Ukrainian authorities to protect anti-corruption activists

Transparency international urged the Ukrainian authorities «to protect civil society from violence.» On 13 November, reported the press service of the mission of the organization in Ukraine.

Transparency International reminded about the beating of anti-corruption activists and investigative journalists in Kharkov, Poltava, Odessa and Kiev.

«Ukrainian activists that were the driving force behind anti-corruption reforms in Ukraine after the revolution of dignity, was now under threat,» – said the Executive Director of Transparency International Ukraine Yaroslav Yurchyshyn.

The organization also noted that activists «are forced to fill in cumbersome electronic Declaration, which complicate their work and increase the potential pressure from the government.»

In August, Transparency International called on Ukrainian authorities «to refrain from using the Supervisory functions to the persecution of social activists».
