Toyota recalls nearly 3 million cars because of problems with seat belts

Carmaker Toyota recalls to 2.87 million vehicles worldwide because of problems with the seat belts in the back seat.

The company said that in the event of an accident they can be damaged by the metal seat frame, transmits bi-Bi-si. In a statement, Toyota said that among the recalled vehicles — popular RAV 4 SUV produced from July 2004 through August 2014, and crossovers Vanguard, released from October 2005 to January 2016.

In cars, subject to review, to the frames of the rear seats will be added to the insulation coating, which will not allow the metal structure to damage the seat belt in the accident.

Earlier it was reported about two cases of damage to the seat belts in an accident, but Toyota did not link the recall of vehicles with these incidents.

In October 2015, the company had to recall 6.5 million cars because of problems with Windows. Earlier in the same year, Toyota recalled about 10 million cars for defects in airbags that killed several people. Also in April 2014 the company held a mass rally in five separate recalls related to separate defects.

In December 2012, Toyota agreed to pay about $1.1 billion in damages to millions of American consumers affected by a series of mass.
