Tuesday, February 9, the health Ministry reported 246 deaths from influenza and its complications. Thus, a day in the Ukraine from this disease died 7 people.
According to operational data of the Center of influenza and SARS SI «Ukrainian centre for control and monitoring of diseases of Moz of Ukraine», since the beginning of epidemic season (September 28, 2015 – 7 February 2016) registered in Ukraine, 3.5 million patients with influenza and SARS, chickenpox, or 8.9% of the population.
Total in Ukraine since the beginning of epidemic season was hospitalized with preliminary diagnosis «Influenza» and «Acute respiratory viral infection» 145 thousand people (4.2% of cases), from them 65,9% are children under the age of 17.
From total number of cases of 61.5 per cent are children under the age of 17. The highest incidence of influenza and SARS among the population of Kyiv region and Kyiv city, where he had respectively of 15.0% and 12.6% of the population.
The lowest incidence recorded in Zakarpatska oblast (5.6%) and Kharkiv regions (3.7 per cent).
On the fifth week of 2016 into 15 areas, the incidence of influenza and ARI exceeded the epidemic thresholds, from them 4 – more than 50.0%. In other regions of the country epidemic thresholds are in the range from zero to threshold in Poltava -49,0% in Kharkiv region.
The incidence in the epidemic season 2015 – 2016 46.1% more than the same period last epidemic season.
For medical care timely appealed only the third part of the dead. The analysis of deaths showed that all the dead had no vaccinations against influenza.
Since the beginning of epidemic season according to operational data have been vaccinated against flu 125 665 thousand people, which constitutes 0.32% of the total population, of which children under 17 years – 21%. Vaccination was performed mainly at the expense of local budgets.
As of 9 February 2016 in some regions introduced restrictive anti-epidemic activities or stopped training almost 2 thousand 553 children’s learning, educational and extracurricular institutions.
The symptoms of H1N1
The symptoms of H1N1 flu in most cases are similar to symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever (high temperature), cough, sore throat, runny nose, muscle pain, tachycardia, headache, chills and weakness. In some cases, the symptoms also include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Temperature is most often higher than for SARS and other respiratory diseases that are not caused by the influenza virus. In rare cases in patients with H1N1 flu experience symptoms of respiratory illness without fever.
There are also dangerous symptoms, when you should immediately consult a physician. The patient should immediately seek medical help if the background of influenza or SARS he has shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, blueness of lips, nausea or vomiting, signs of dehydration, convulsions, blurred consciousness, and if the temperature is very high and decreases with antipyretics or remains elevated longer than 4-5 days.
The parents of sick children with the flu also should immediately seek medical help if the child against diseases see the following symptoms: fast or difficult breathing, bluish or pale skin, refusal to drink, difficulty in passing urine (or no desire for a long time), lack of tears when crying, persistent nausea or vomiting, extreme lethargy and drowsiness, similar to fainting, or extreme degree of excitation, the child can be calm, pain or pressure in the chest, abdomen, sudden dizziness, syncope, confusion, disorientation.
