The Verkhovna Rada registered a law increasing the fines to drivers

The Verkhovna Rada registered the draft law of the Cabinet of Ministers, involving multiple increase of fines for violation of traffic rules.

A draft law published on the website of the Parliament under No. 7286.

The bill proposes to increase from 510 UAH to 3.4 thousand UAH the penalty for driving at a speed exceeding the maximum allowable by more than 50 km/h.

If the driver got in an accident and fled the scene, the legislators propose to fine him for 3.4 thousand UAH instead of the current 255 UAH, or to deprive him of rights to six months.

For driving without a license is proposed to increase the fine from 510 to 10.2 ths. In the case of repeated violations during the year, the amount of penalty will increase to 40.8 thousand UAH.

For the Commission in a condition of alcoholic intoxication, traffic accidents resulting in human death or grave injuries, the Cabinet proposes to punish with imprisonment for the term from four till 10 years with deprivation of the right to operate vehicles for the term from five till eight years.

If the accident resulted in the death of several persons – a prison sentence I propose to increase from seven to 12 years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of five to 10 years.

On 10 November, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to send to Parliament a bill on substantial toughening of responsibility for violation of traffic rules. Among the proposals: the speed limit, a significant increase in penalties for certain violations, the introduction of photo and video, as well as changes in the procedure of issuing driving licenses.
