Egypt has submitted to the UN Security Council a draft resolution on the status of Jerusalem, according to Reuters, the disposal of which is a copy of the document.
The resolution proposes to recognize all decisions on the status of Jerusalem have no legal force.
The Agency notes that the text in the document does not mention the statement of the President of the United States Donald trump on the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
According to the resolution, «any decisions and actions, which should change the character, status and demographic composition of the Holy city of Jerusalem have no legal effect, are invalid and must be cancelled in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council.»
The resolution also calls on countries to refrain from opening diplomatic missions in Jerusalem.
On 6 December, the President of the United States Donald trump has officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and announced the postponement of the U.S. Embassy in this city.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of France Emmanuel macron and Prime Minister of great Britain, Theresa may, did not support the initiative of the White house.
The UN security Council did not support this decision, and the foreign Minister of the European Union Federica Mogherini stated that the EU will not move its Embassy in Israel from tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The Arab League called on the US to abandon its intentions.
In Palestine riots broke out. In clashes between Arab activists and the Israel police injured dozens of people.
In some countries protests were held. The leaders of the 57 Muslim States urged the world to «recognize the State of Palestine» and East Jerusalem as its «occupied capital».
Israel occupied East Jerusalem after the 1967 war and considers the entire city its capital. The Palestinians, in turn, want to declare East Jerusalem the capital of their state.
The administrative capital of Israel is now in tel Aviv and the Palestinian authority based in Ramallah.
