The UN security Council rejected the draft resolution Russia on Syria

The members of the UN Security Council did not reach agreement on the draft Russian resolution, which contains the requirement to stop actions that undermine the sovereignty of Syria.

This was announced by the President of the security Council Rafael Ramirez, reports «BBC Russia».

During the meeting on 19 February, the draft resolution was rejected by six countries, among which USA, France and the UK.

According to Ramirez, the security Council have until Monday, February 22 to hear the feedback from the countries on the resolution.

Before the meeting, the permanent representative of France to the UN Francois Delattr criticized the Russian draft.

The French diplomat said he believes the impasse of the policy of Russia, which «unequivocally» supports the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

U.S. permanent representative to the UN Samantha Power said that the Russian project has no future.

As reported, in connection with the Declaration of Turkey about the possibility of introducing troops in Syria and the deteriorating situation on the Syrian-Turkish border, Moscow intends February 19 to convene a meeting of the UN security Council.
