The UN Secretariat is satisfied with the adoption by Ukraine of the international mine action standards

The Secretariat of the United Nations (UN) favorably evaluated the adoption by Ukraine of international standards for mine action (International Mine Action Standards).

As the press service of the Ministry of economic development on Monday, January 16, the corresponding official note with positive evaluations and support of the solutions received to the government of Ukraine.

UN officials noted that the adoption of these standards is an important step in consolidating the government’s efforts to counter explosive threats.

«We are talking about the package of the 42 standards, which embody a detailed description of the procedures and requirements for mine clearance. These standards accumulate years of international experience, which will help Ukrainian miners to minimize occupational risks», — is spoken in the message.

The standards can be transferred not only military, but also other agencies including the SES and the MIA.

The Ministry reminded that the government’s action plan for 2016 was confirmed on the adoption of 1 thousand of international standards, but by December had already taken more than 1.2 thousand standards.

Earlier in January, environmental management and safety of mine action of the Ministry of defence of Ukraine said that since the beginning of the antiterrorist operation of group of mine clearing of engineering units of the Armed forces of Ukraine in the East neutralized more than 140 thousand explosive objects.
