The Ukrainian Consul visited the Russian colony of political prisoners Vygovsky and Kostenko

Consular representative of the Embassy of Ukraine in Russia was found in a correctional colony in the town of Kirovo-Chepetsk (Kirov region, Russia) illegally convicted Russian citizens of Ukraine Oleksandr Kostenko and Valentin Vygovsky.

According to the Department of consular service of the MFA of Ukraine on his page on the social network Facebook, the visits took place on 8 and 9 November 2016.

«During the meetings, the Consul checked the conditions of detention and the status of compatriots. Ukrainians have been granted consular and legal and material assistance. Complaints about the presence of bias or other wrongful action on the part of the prison administration, the prisoners did not», — is told in the message.

The Department of consular service of the MFA of Ukraine emphasize that they will continue to take comprehensive measures regarding the other citizens of Ukraine illegally and are convicted on the territory of the Russian Federation.

As reported, the Kiev vygovskyy in 2014 was detained in the Crimea at the railway station in Simferopol. From the Crimea he was taken to Lefortovo prison in Moscow. Then, a Russian court sentenced him to 11 years in prison for «espionage».

Kostenko in February 2015, kidnapped at the door of his home in Crimea and taken in an unknown direction. Later he was accused of assaulting an employee of «Berkut» during the Euromaidan protests in Kiev, and also in illegal possession of weapons. He was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment.
