The U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation about voting March 18: Not sure it can be called election

Last March 18, the presidential elections in Russia bears little resemblance to the real will. The Ambassador of the USA in Russia John huntsman said in an interview with «Voice of America».

«I’m not sure it can be called election. Several times I ran for elected office and can assess whether the election was real – when have a meaningful discussion when the media are in full force and highlight the most important problems,» he said.

The huntsman said that dialogue on the priority issues it is the elections in Russia were not observed.

According to the CEC of Russia, election March 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported 76,69% of voters. In the second place Pavel Grudinin (KPRF) – 11,77% of the votes, the third – Vladimir Zhirinovsky (LDPR) from 5.65%. Ksenia Sobchak supported 1,68% of the vote, Grigory Yavlinsky and 1.05%. Boris Titov, Maxim suraykin and Sergei Baburin scored less than 1% of the vote.
