The Department for investigation of particularly important cases in the economic sphere of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine together with security Service of Ukraine revealed the criminal scheme of assignment of budgetary funds in especially large sizes when conducting procurement of goods, works and services in the interests of the State border service of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the GPU.
In Prosecutor’s office reported that during the 2016-2017 officials of the state border service and the entities of the private sector when performing work on the engineering arrangement of the Ukrainian-Russian state border territories in the ATO zone and the occupied Crimea («Wall») awarded budget funds in the amount of UAH 100 million in the procurement of goods, works and services.
«The complex of urgent investigatory actions, the withdrawn material evidences confirming the involvement of officials of the state border service and the specified entities to the implementation of unlawful activities», – stated in the message.
Implementation of the project «the Wall», which is a fortification on the border with the Russian Federation, was launched in the fall of 2014. The project cost 8 billion UAH are planned to be completed until 2018. Later the cost of the «Wall» has reduced two times, and the deadline for the construction was postponed to 2020.
21 July 2016, the MP from the «Samopomich» Elena Sotnik, visiting the building of strategic fortifications in the Kharkiv region, said that «the ditch with the green mesh is the same «Wall» that we must defend from enemy invasions from the Russian Federation».
A number of MPs have sent a request to the leaders of NABOO and the anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office of Ukraine with a request to assess the actions of the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk in connection with the construction of the project «the Wall».
Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office launched an investigation into possible wrongdoing in the construction project «the Wall» on the border with Russia, said on 11 August 2016 chief Minister Nazar Golodnitsky.
19 January 2017 at a press conference the head of the Kharkiv regional state administration Yulia Svetlichnaya said that the construction of the «Wall» is suspended due to lack of funding. On the same day the speaker of the state border service of Ukraine Oleg Slobodyan said this information is untrue.
June 15, Deputy Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Troyan and a group of deputies inspected the progress of works on engineering arrangement of the Ukrainian-Russian border in the Kharkiv region. It was reported that the plan has been equipped 273,5 km anti-vehicle trenches, almost 170 km of lateral roads, and more than 83 km metal barrier fence.
