The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine (PGO) has filed an appeal against the sentence of Shevchenkovsky district court of Kiev for the defendant in the case about the murder of journalist Vyacheslav Veremiya Yuri Rat, who was appointed on probation. About it informs the website of the Department.

«Given that the assigned face punishment… not correspond to the General beginnings of appointment of punishment, the principles of legality, fairness, validity and individualization of punishment and is sufficient and necessary to correct the person and prevent new crimes, the General Prosecutor of Ukraine on 28 December made an appeal», – is spoken in the message.

According to GPU, the trial court improperly applied the law on criminal responsibility and also did not take into account the circumstances of the criminal proceedings, the gravity of the offence and the personality of the accused.

The journalist of the newspaper «Vesti» Veremey was killed during the revolution of dignity – in the night of February 19, 2014 in the center of Kiev. A taxi with a reporter stopped aunts, pulled out the passengers and began to beat them with metal sticks.

Veremiya was beaten by three men, one of them, according to investigators – Krysin. When the reporter broke free and tried to escape, he was shot (the consequence considers that it was made by a resident of Gorlovka Jalal Aliyev, he wanted). The journalist died in hospital from blood loss and his injuries.

According to the investigation, in the criminal world, the Rat is the nickname of the Cabinet, he has more than 10 years of living in Kiev and coordinates aunts. Krysin appears in other criminal proceedings, including an armed assault on one of the capital’s gas stations in may 2016.

On December 22 judge Oleg Linnik recognized Rat guilty and has appointed to it punishment in the form of four years with a probation period of two years under part 4 of article 296 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (hooliganism, that is a gross violation of public order, which is accompanied by special impudence or the exclusive cynicism, made by a group of persons with the use of firearms or cold weapon).

The Prosecutor’s office was planning to get him real deprivation of liberty for a term of six years.

25 December in Kiev held a protest, whose participants demanded tougher punishment for the Rat.

The judge Linnik said he believes his sentence is fair Krysino.
