The Polish Parliament refused to soften restrictions on abortion in the country

The Polish Sejm refused to soften restrictions on abortion in the country. This was reported by the AFP news Agency.

Deputies considered two of the civil bill concerning abortion. The project «save the women – 2017» was to allow to apply the procedure at the request of the parents before the 12th week of pregnancy for psychological or social reasons.

The second document – «Stop abortion» is proposed to ban abortion even in the case of possible diseases of the fetus such as down syndrome.

6 October 2017, the Polish Sejm by a majority of votes rejected the bill of the Committee on the complete prohibition and criminalization of abortion.

The legislation, adopted in 1993, forbids abortion. With the exception of cases of rape or incest, risk to mother’s health or severe deformity of the fetus.
