Minister of defense James Mattis on Friday 3 February, held a meeting with the defense Minister and foreign Minister of South Korea, during which he confirmed the US intention to continue to deploy the newest system On the THAAD amid nuclear threats from North Korea.

The North Korean foreign Ministry refused to accept the security Council resolution, saying that its nuclear tests were conducted «in self-defense» in response to hostile US policy and the launch of the satellite «in the interest of space exploration for peaceful purposes».
