Primorsky district court of Odessa seized the four Jack-up drilling rigs (Jack-up) of PJSC «Chornomornaftogaz», captured as a result of Russian annexation of Crimea.
Such a decision the court issued on 27 January 2017, reports on Monday 6 February, «Interfax-Ukraine».
Arrest made at the request of the Main Department of the National police in the Crimea and Sevastopol in the framework of the open Dec 14, 2015 criminal proceedings on the fact of illegal movement and seize the specified Jack-up.
«To prevent the possibility of concealment, damage, damage, destruction, conversion, alienation of the above state property, the investigator requested to meet and seize the floating rigs-319 «Ukraine», At-312 – «Peter Godovanets», «Sivash», «Tavrida». As reported, February 1, 2017 transport aircraft, the Navy Voorujennyh forces of Ukraine An-26 was fired from small arms in the region of Odessa gas field with previously captured by the Russian Federation of Ukrainian drilling rigs. Once the aircraft returns to the airfield in the external examination revealed 3-cm bullet hole, voznikshie as a result of attack of the aircraft from small arms.
«Naftogaz of Ukraine» announced plans to achieve through the international judicial institutions for the resumption of control of assets lost due to the Russian occupation of the Crimea, and redress all incurred loss.
In February 2016, «Naftogaz of Ukraine» has initiated the negotiation process regarding the loss of their assets in the Crimea, giving Russia a notice of investment dispute under the bilateral agreement on mutual protection of investments between the two countries.
Six months of talks ended inconclusively in August 2016, with the result that the NJSC «Naftogaz of Ukraine» and its six subsidiaries («Chornomornaftogaz», «Ukrtransgaz», «ukrgazvidobuvannya», «Ukrtransnafta», «Gas of Ukraine» and «of likvo») on 17 October 2016 initiated arbitration proceedings against the Russian Federation with the requirement to compensate losses caused by the unlawful seizure of the group’s assets in the Crimea.
«Naftogaz of Ukraine» in the framework of litigation for the loss of Crimean assets has attracted firm Covington & Burling LLP (new York, USA) to protect its interests.
We will note, earlier it was reported that in January 2016, the Pechersk district court of Kyiv seized the Jack-up floating drilling rigs «Peter Godovanets» and «Ukraine» (so-called «towers Boyko»), which belong expropriated by the Russian company «Chornomornaftogaz».
