The number of flood victims in Greece increased to 16

The death toll in the floods in the Metropolitan region of Attica in Greece has increased to 16 people. It is reported by Ekathimerini.

Previously it was known about seven victims of the disaster.

Four persons, three motorist and hunter are still missing. On 16 November, the rescuers found alive two residents of the suburbs of Athens, which were also listed as missing.

Hardest hit town of Mandra, where 14 people died.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras visited Mandra, noting that she was «shocked» by the scale of the disaster. He called the root cause of the incident «rare and extreme weather conditions», but called on to assess the inaction of local authorities and «inadequate infrastructure solutions in urban planning».

Sudden heavy rain on 15 November caused flooding in the attic. Hundreds of people are trapped in their homes and cars.
