The NATO Secretary General has warned Canada about the threat of cyber attacks from Russia

Canada and other NATO countries should make greater efforts to counter the cyber attacks from Russia. This broadcast CBC Radio said the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.

He noted that the threat from Russia is constantly growing and NATO need to adapt.

According to Stoltenberg, the protection of its network and the confrontation of misinformation priority for the Alliance.

The Minister of defence of Estonia jüri Luik said that since cyberspace knows no borders, «to what extent each country adjacent to Russia», including Canada.

Luik added that Canada should not be surprised if Russia tries to intervene in parliamentary elections in the country in 2019.

19 January 2017 Stoltenberg reported that the number of hacker attacks on NATO networks increased by 60%.

On 16 February, the Alliance approved an action plan on the use of cyberspace as an operational environment.

On 8 November in Brussels agreed on the creation of a new command centre for operations in cyberspace.
