Judges who will consider the dispute of Ukraine and Russia in the organ established by the International UN Tribunal for the law of the sea, should make a decision roughly not before 2019 and no later than 2021. This was stated in an interview with «European truth» Olena zerkal, Deputy Minister for foreign Affairs on European integration.
The Tribunal on the Ukrainian question was formally established in December of 2016.
«We have completed all necessary pre-trial procedures. The fact that Russia agreed to the creation of the arbitration and the Tribunal; the fact that they participated in the selection of arbitrators – all this gives us hope for a more serious attitude toward his decision,» — said zerkal.
She also said that Ukraine is satisfied with the arbitrators selected to participate in the Tribunal.
«On each potential arbitrator was selected dossiers was considered by his decisions, publications and statements. The arbitration, which is formed now is happy with us,» said the diplomat.
Zerkal noted that the decision of the question of ownership of the Crimea it is not – the Tribunal is not to consider it. Not talking about the delimitation of the boundaries.
«The Tribunal will consider the claim of Ukraine to the inability to use their natural resources, the inability to protect the ecology of the Black sea, the inability to navigate within the Kerch Strait on Russia’s violation of the rules regarding the construction of the Kerch bridge and other crossings, and in this regard the violation of the ecological balance in the Black sea, the uncontrolled rise of archaeological values near the Crimea. We want the restitution of their rights, i.e. restoration of right of use of marine coastal zones, which, according to the relevant Convention, belongs to Ukraine», — she explained.
In the case of this decision it will be the first verdict of the international Tribunal for issues related to annexation.
Recall that in November last year, the Hague Tribunal equated the situation in Crimea to international armed conflict.
The Ministry of foreign Affairs: the first decision of the international Tribunal for the Crimea should appear in 2019-2021 years 10.01.2017
