The Lithuanian Parliament is investigating the possible link of deputies with the Russian Corporation «Rosatom»

Chairman of the Lithuanian parliamentary Committee on national security Vytautas Bakas initiated the investigation on the links of local politicians with the Russian Corporation «Rosatom» reports L24.

Deputies will check on the possible influence on their decision from the Lithuanian business, as well as the «malicious investments in strategic enterprises».

Bakas presented the initiative at the coalition Council of the factions of the Lithuanian Union of farmers and green (LSCS) and the Lithuanian social democratic party (LSDP). The majority of deputies LSCS supported the proposal, and representatives of LSDP took a week to clarify wording.

The head of the Committee has assured that he has the full support of the faction.

In the spring of the Seimas of Lithuania conducted an investigation about the possible links of MPs from LSDP of Mindaugas Bastia with Evgeny Kostin, which in Lithuania is called «the representative «Rosatom», the ex-KGB agent, Peter, Vaako and journalist of TV channel «Russia 1» with Ernest Mackevicius, reports Delfi. Bastia recognized acting against the interests of Lithuania, in connection with which was started the process of nullifying his powers.

Lithuania makes claims to «Rosatom» in connection with the construction of a nuclear power plant near the Belarusian town of Ostrovets, near Vilnius. The Lithuanian authorities claim that the nuclear station is being built without complying with international safety regulations. According to the Lithuanian MPs, Bastis acted as the lobbyist of «Rosatom».
