The lawyer of the leader of the «Movement novih forces,» Saakashvili Beck of Basilia considers illegal detention of his client and did not rule out that now the policy can be extradited to Georgia. He said this to journalists on December 5, reports «Interfax-Ukraine».
Basile protects the interests of Saakashvili in the Georgian court.
According to the lawyer, Georgia are fast-tracking a court case about excess of ex-President of official authority. In particular, we are talking about early pardon four police officers convicted of killing Bank employee Sandro Girgvliani. The lawyer argues that prosecutors intend to seek a verdict in this case until the end of December.
«The processes in Ukraine suspiciously coincide with the trial against Saakashvili in Georgia,» – said Basilia.
Chairman of the legal Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Eka Beselia said that the extradition of Saakashvili possible within the framework of bilateral interstate cooperation.
«As far as I know, the requirement to extradite Saakashvili was sent by the Ministry of justice and Prosecutor’s office to the Ukrainian side. In Georgia, informed the court on one of the brought against him was made the decision on his detention and pre-trial detention in the case of the Georgian territory,» – said Beselia.
5 Dec SBU and PGO detained Saakashvili under part 1 of article 256 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (promotion of members of the criminal organizations and concealment of their criminal activities).
On July 26, when Saakashvili was in the USA, the State migration service of Ukraine reported that the President Petro Poroshenko issued a decree on the loss of citizenship Saakashvili because of false data that have policies in obtaining Ukrainian passports. In particular, Saakashvili has informed that in Georgia he was arrested in absentia.
The politician said that the President’s decision is the result of «dogovornyak» between «oligarchic clans» Poroshenko and Georgian ex-Prime Minister, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili.
On 5 September, Ukraine has received from the Chief prosecution of Georgia’s request about the search, detention and extradition of Saakashvili, against whom in Georgia opened a criminal case. 10 Sep ex-President of Georgia was able to return to Ukraine.
September 11, the lawyer Saakashvili appealed to the State migration service with the application of the policy for political asylum in Ukraine. October 24, the state migratory service announced that the petition Saakashvili was filed with violations.
31 Oct Saakashvili re-filed documents to the service, but on 1 November, his lawyer Ruslan Chernolutsky said that GMS refused asylum policy.
Saakashvili appealed in court and the refusal of political asylum, deprivation of citizenship of Ukraine.
30 Nov politician said that the migration service to extend his stay in Ukraine for three months.
