The ISS went astronaut-champion

The American astronaut Peggy Whitson, who for the third time went to the International space station, will become the elderly woman in space in the history of its development.

According to «BBC Ukraine», during the mission, Whitson will be 57 years old.

She’s been in space the longest of female astronauts and was the first in the history of the ISS woman commander of the crew.

Along with her mission went, the Russians Oleg Novitskiy and Frenchman Thomas Sands, for which this space mission was the first.

On the ISS they departed the spacecraft «Soyuz» from Baikonur cosmodrome on Friday night. The vehicle docking with the station is scheduled for 20 November, 2016 00 hours. 02 min. to Kiev.

Recall that one of the six women in the world, flown in space five times, NASA astronaut Janice Voss, in February 2012, died of cancer at the age of 55 years. As recalled Peggy Whitson, the merit Voss was the fact that she and her colleagues laid the foundations for «discoveries at the station, which was impossible even to dream of.»
