The Israeli army will replace their fighting llamas robots

Israeli ground forces in September this year will test a new cargo robot, which is intended to replace the fighting llamas, according to Haaretz.

Israeli special operations forces have used llamas to transport goods since the beginning of 2000-ies. Animals have entrusted the carriage of ammunition and provisions, because they are not afraid of shots, accustomed to the mountainous terrain and hardy in hot climates.

The new robot is called IRP (Infantry Robotic Porter, infantry robotic porter). This tracked machine was developed in Israel, capable of carrying loads of up to 500 kg and reach a speed of 10 km/h over rough terrain.

Robot batteries which is enough for eight hours of continuous operation, can be controlled remotely.

According to a source in the armed forces of Israel, the new robot before, took part in battalion and regimental exercises and well-proven. Thus in terrain with steep ascents to the robot the necessary assistance to the fighters.
