Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny will be able to take part in the Russian presidential election in 2018, if it will remove the record or to change the law, said Chairman of the Central election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova in an interview with RBC.
According to her, «the first miracle» can happen if a politician will write the appeal and the relevant judicial authority will cancel the existing sentences, and the «second miracle» – if you urgently amend the Federal election laws that would allow him to participate in the elections in the presence of a criminal record.
Pamfilova said that the probability «of such a hypothetical miracles is negligible». She stressed that in this regard he sees no way to register Navalny to participate in the presidential elections.
CEC head added that the policy «there is no campaign – there is a deliberate political actions promoted on the dubious premise that this is a presidential campaign.»
She said that if criminal records with the Bulk will not remove, and the laws will remain the same, then no it will not make a policy to register to participate in the presidential elections, «even if the pressure will be on all sides».
