The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine on September 29, completed pre-trial investigation and provided the defense to review the materials of the criminal proceedings against the former head of the Main Department of the security service of Ukraine in Kyiv and Kyiv region, suspected of involvement in the killings of the Revolution of dignity, the press service of the Prosecutor General.
«The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine on 29 September 2015 completed pre-trial investigation and provided the defense to review the materials of the criminal proceedings against the former head of the Main Department of the security service of Ukraine in Kyiv and Kyiv region on the grounds of criminal offenses under part 4 of article 41, part 3, article 28, article 340 (illegal preventing of the organization or holding of assemblies, rallies, marches and demonstrations), part 4, article 41, part 3 of article 28, part 3 St. 365 (abuse of power or office powers employee of law enforcement body); part 3 of article 27, part 3 of article 28, part 2 of article 121 (deliberate heavy injury); part 3 of article 27, part 3 of article 28, clauses 1, 5 part 2 St. 115 (premeditated murder) of UK of Ukraine», — stated in the message on Wednesday.
According to the press service, during a pretrial investigation it is established that the person, acting within the organized group of persons, which included former high-ranking officials, with the aim of ousting the protesters from the Independence square in Kiev during the execution of a criminal order guide, 18 February 2014 adopted the decision to hold the employees of the security service of Ukraine with the support of the bodies of internal Affairs anti-terrorist operation in the Central part of the capital, had «caused grave consequences in loss of human life, the citizens causing of bodily harm of varying severity, damage to property legal and physical persons».
«In accordance with the decree of the court the suspect elected a measure of restraint in form of detention,» — said the press service.
The head of the security Service of Ukraine in the period from 9 January 2013 to 22 February 2014 was Alexander Yakimenko. Since April 2013 the capital management of the SBU was headed by the native of Donetsk Alexander Shchegolev. In March 2013, former President Viktor Yanukovych were combined into one Department SBU in Kiev and Kiev region.
In August of this year the Pechersky district court of Kiev chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention until 20 October for the former head of the security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and Kyiv region Schegoleva, who was detained on August 20.
