As reported, on September 22, Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin on demand of the European Union has created a Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office (SAP). According to the law, the Prosecutor’s office shall supervise the observance of laws during pre-trial investigation by the National anti-corruption Bureau (NAB).
November 30, Shokin approved elected in an open competition 30-year-old Nazar of Gorodnitskogo to the post of Deputy Prosecutor General, head of the Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office.
It is worth noting that the election of Gorodnitskogo, and therefore the full launch of the NABU, which we can only speak today, was preceded by a sharp political debate concerning personal structure of the competitive Commission on selection of the Chairman of EPS — in particular, the EU and human rights activists in Ukraine’s ruling coalition insisted to minimize the amount of involved representatives of the GPU — which culminated in the compromise between Poroshenko with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, made during their telephone conversation on 3 November, and, as a consequence, a decrease in the number of members of the Commission from among the people killed from four to two people.
Holodnitsky plans to start working on Monday, 2 December.
«The attorney General only gave certificate», — quotes its words UNIAN however, he added that today the Prosecutor’s office the professional holiday — Day of prosecutors.
