The government would require «hard measures» in connection with the failed launch of a satellite for Angola

The Russian government need to take «tough measures» against individuals responsible for the unsuccessful launch of the satellite angosat from the Baikonur cosmodrome, and functionaries of the state Corporation «Roscosmos». About possible layoffs, citing its sources, reports «Kommersant».

The source in the government said that the project on launching of a satellite for Angola, communication with which was lost shortly after launch on the night of 27 December, was «important enough for Russia.» The first Angolan apparatus of this type intended to provide television and radio broadcasting in Africa.

The source in the space industry notes that, formally, «Roskosmos» were not related to this project, since the contract with Angola was signed by the company Energia, the manufacturer of the satellite. However, after the November failure of the rocket «Soyuz-2» with the satellite «meteor» from Vostochny another incident would be to associate it with «Roskosmos», the source said.

After separation from the upper stage «Fregat» the Angolan satellite was out of contact, but later on it suddenly stopped telemetric information.

Priority version state of emergency is considered a failure of the power distribution unit, said a source in Roscosmos.
