The German foreign Ministry responded to the statement by the Ambassador on elections in the Donbass

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Germany commented on the words of German Ambassador to Ukraine about the possibility of holding elections in the Donbass. The foreign Ministry said that Minsk agreements are a pointer, reports Deutsche Welle.

«A guiding star for all our efforts to overcoming the crisis in Eastern Ukraine are the Minsk agreements between Russia and Ukraine of 12 February 2015, concluded with the mediation of Germany and France», — said the foreign Minister of Germany.

As reported in an interview with RBC-Ukraine Ernst Reichel confirmed the existence of a German-French version of the «road map» implementation of the Minsk agreements. He did not go into the specifics, but even the General thesis give reason to believe that this option will not be unconditionally perceived in Ukraine.

In particular, the diplomat suggested that elections in the occupied part of the Donbass can be held in the presence of the Russian army. All, he said, will depend on the conditions under which these elections will be held.

Later, Reichel explained that he was talking about creating the necessary conditions for holding elections in the Donbass, when he suggested that elections in the occupied part of Donetsk and Lugansk regions will be held in the presence of the Russian army. 6 Feb diplomat, claiming that the situation is identical, recalled the last parliamentary elections under the Communist regime in the German Democratic Republic, which took place in the presence of the Western group of the Armed forces of the Soviet Union.

The Ukrainian foreign Ministry has explained to the German Ambassador that the elections in ARDLA can’t place in the presence of Russian troops.
