The German foreign Minister offers to cooperate with Ukraine on the example of relations with Britain after a Brexit

Brussels could build relations with Ukraine and Turkey, following the example of the model that will be the end of Brexit. This was stated by the foreign Minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel in an interview with Funke Mediengruppe, published in one of the publications of the media group Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung.

According to the Minister, if Brussels will be able to develop an agreement with the London governing their relationship after the withdrawal of Britain from the European Union, this model may be applicable to other countries.

Gabriel believes that in the near future neither Ukraine nor Turkey will not become EU members, so you should consider alternative forms of closer cooperation.

A referendum on British exit from the EU was held on 23 June 2016. According to the results, 51.9% of Britons voted for the country’s withdrawal from the community of 48.1% – wanted to remain in the EU.

The official procedure of withdrawal of Britain from the EU was launched on 29 March 2017 and will take two years.

19 June 2017 in Brussels began negotiations for a Brexit. 7 Dec completed the first phase of the dialogue.

A British exit from the EU is scheduled for March 29, 2019 at 23.00 UK time (1.00 March 30 in Kiev).
