The European Union has excluded Colombian FARC from the terrorist organizations

The European Union has formally excluded Colombian leftist rebel group FARC from the list of terrorist organizations. This decision was taken at a meeting of heads of ministries of foreign Affairs (MFA) of the EU countries on 13 November.

This «Deutsche Welle» said the representative of Brussels.

In the framework of the agreement on the cessation of the armed conflict in Colombia, the FARC has been transformed into a political party and its leader Rodrigo Londono, known as Tymoshenko announced intention to run for President of Colombia in 2018.

The decision of the foreign Ministers of EU countries will begin from November 14.

26 September 2016 the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos and FARC leader Rodrigo Londono signed the contract, terminating the armed confrontation.

However, in a referendum held on 2 October, more than half of the population voted against approval of the plan of the peace agreement of the government with the rebels.

In mid-November, the government and the rebels signed a new contract.

The Nobel Committee has awarded the Colombian leader a peace prize 2016 for «his determined efforts to end the country has more than half a century of civil war.»

In August 2017, the FARC rebels handed over to the representatives of the United Nations all weapons.

A military conflict between the government and the rebels lasted for 52 years.
