The European Parliament will consider the violation of the rights of Crimean Tatars

At the plenary session of the European Parliament, held in Strasbourg on 1-4 February, mainly plan to discuss the issues of refugees in Europe, but also on the agenda is the issue of human rights in Crimea. Thursday will vote on two pending with the January session of the European Parliament resolutions on the necessity of measures to protect religious minorities from the «Islamic state» and recognition of the atrocities committed against them by genocide, and the actions against the humanitarian and political crisis in Yemen.

The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars and international human rights organizations have repeatedly reported human rights violations in Crimea after its annexation. Although the Russian authorities deny this.

25 January 2016 in the Crimea arrived the delegation of the Council of Europe of four headed by a Swiss diplomat, Ambassador Gerard Stoudmann. The Secretary General of the Council of Europe thorbjørn Jagland stated that he decided to send a delegation to Crimea to assess the situation of human rights on the Peninsula.

Observers of the Council of Europe became the first representatives of international organizations, which had access to the Crimea for the last year and a half.
