Official site of the European Parliament published a forecast date of consideration of the mechanism for suspension of visa-free regime. According services the EU, it can happen 18 January 2017.
According to the preliminary information posted on the website of the European Parliament for the adoption of the suspension mechanism, at the January session, the MPs plan to consider the regulations 2016/0142(COD) in the first reading.
And on Tuesday, November 29, the governing institutions will discuss a new mechanism for suspension of visa-free regimes. About it in Brussels said the steering institution of the EU, reports «UKRINFORM».
«The Slovak chairmanship will convene a trilateral meeting with participation of representatives of countries members in the EU Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission. The goal is to complete negotiations on the introduction of a new mechanism for suspension of visa-free regimes with all third countries», — said the Agency interlocutor.
In turn, the European Parliament urged the EU Council to accelerate the adoption of a new mechanism for suspension of visa-free regimes with other countries that will allow you to complete visa liberalization for Ukraine. This was stated by MEP Anna Maria Bildt at the international conference on Tuesday in Brussels.
«The visa liberalisation process was to be completed in November. The European Parliament has supported this issue in September (profile Committee — ed.) and currently we are ready to negotiate with the EU Council. But, unfortunately, due to the fact that the suspension mechanism is not moving, visa liberalization has also not progressed… We call on the EU Council to move forward on visa liberalization,» — said the MEP.
Bildt praised Ukraine’s fulfillment of all criteria on the way for the abolition of visas with the European Union.
In turn, present at the event, former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that the Ukrainian side has fulfilled all conditions on the path of visa liberalization with the EU, therefore, currently, the European side must fulfil its obligations.
As you know, earlier member countries of the EU adopted a decision that the visa-free regime for Ukraine and Georgia will work only after approval of a General mechanism for suspending bizwise. Thus, formal approval bezveza for Ukraine will be possible no earlier than this date. However, there remains a risk that for political reasons this process will be delayed for an indefinite period.
As reported, at the summit Ukraine-EU European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that the issue of visa-free regime in Ukraine must be resolved before the end of the year.
On 23 October, President Petro Poroshenko has promised that Ukraine will receive the decision on introduction of a visa-free regime with the European Union before the summit Ukraine — EU on November 24.
In October, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine on European integration Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze said that «bezviz» for Ukraine is delayed due to discussions between the EU institutions, which arose around the «mechanism for the temporary suspension of visa-free regime in respect to third countries».
The European Parliament will consider a visa-free regime only in January 2017, and urged the EU Council to speed up its provision of 29.11.2016
